Big EyEs!👀

A few days ago we started working on a peer mediation poster! We have never done one that I knew of, and if there was it’d probably look kinda boring. So we decided to make one and take a photo of ourselves and make ourselves have big eyes! We used the app "Pixlr E" to make the big eyes. And clicked Liquify and pressed the enlarge tool

Then we would use “remove.bg” to remove the background, Then insert it into a slide/google draw for a poster! This is mine so far,

It's not that good RIGHT now but It'll get better, well.. hopefully it will! Thank you for spending your time reading this to the end, I will post another blog when its done! If you tried out Pixlr E tell me what you think of it! Also what do you think I should add to my poster?

READING THE WHALES!

This week and some of last week the green reading group have been working on a reading passion project. We chose a topic and then did some research on different sites so that we could get our story, read it, put it into a google slide and then put it into our own words. Me and another girl called Renny chose the same topic, it was whale strands! We didn’t ACTUALLY have to choose our passion, but some of the boys liked hunting so they did that, but another boy likes something else but doesn’t choose that. If we see something we are interested in we can choose it as our topic. I went on lots of different sites and searched up questions on google. Then I put them into my own words and onto the slide. I also put in the links to the sites I went on. It was really fun and cool. Here is a photo of my work and if you want to read it just click on the picture!

What do you think I could improve on with my reading?(if you read the story though it might be a bit hard to read)

CLUED UP KIDS HAS CAME AGAIN! - CLUED UP KERERUIANS!

Last week on Friday we went to the B.B.(boys brigade), hall for C.U.K.(aka clued up kids). We had horse safety, fires, police, safety hazards, train crossing, earthquakes, quad bikes/motorbikes and lastly St Johns.
There were many different schools that came, Kaniere school however were split into two groups because there were so many year 5's and 6's. I was in the red group. At the horse station it had a very calm horse and it also had two girls. One of them I actually knew and recognised straight away. Her name was Isla! They told us about it and then we moved on to the next ones. My favourites would DEFINITELY be the horse station, the fire station, the motorbike/quad bike station and lastly the train crossing station. I don't think a lot of people liked the train crossing part but I did. My absolute favourite was the fire because there was small long tunnel that you had to crawl through and it has some wall type thingies so you had to make sure you went the right way. It was so dark! blacker than black paint. There is so much to tell you but it'd be too long and there is just so much, anyways I really liked it and am excited for next year to do it again!

E.book!

For writing  this week we made an ebook.  We used google slides and wrote the story ourself.  We used pobble365 to get some pictures, and inserted them in when we were done with our writing.
Below is a picture of my recrafted story and below that the original story.  We learnt that we could improve our writing to make it better and more descriptive.

Have you ever recrafted any of your writing to make it better?

Sculpting Clay into a alien monster!!

Today we learn't how to use a really fun app! The app is called "SculptGL" . I LOVED using it and made a funny monster alien bug, I'll name him... JEFFERY! Most of the year six's that were in this class last year knew how to use it. but there are still some year six's from Piwakawaka. This is what Jeffery looks like from the front!

He looks funny doesn't he? But this is just from the front. I have many pictures of him. These are some of the others,

Now that I think of it he is actually really weird.
We used a lot of the tools to make our alien monsters. I mostly used drag, paint, pinch, flatten and brush. I changed the setting up and turned it around to make him look complete and even weirder.
I'm proud of my work but I think I could've done better. What do you
think I could have improved on?

My Helicopter

Today our class made paper helicopters! We made the helicopters for a reading task, basically we got the idea because on the reading book the persons cat got run over and he turned dead cat into a helicopter! Its pretty funny. All you need is a paper clip, and a strip of paper. Then you fold the strip of paper in half and take out the sides, then you fold them down a little bit to the side like this,
after that you fold the bottom part and it should look like this,

then make the sides go out a bit

After that you slide in the paper clip and it should look like this,

Then you stand up on a chair or something a little bit high and let it drop. Here was my video of me, Haki,  and Xanthe! I went a bit before them by accident but Haki was cheating a bit because he had two paper clips, if you put on two it goes down faster!

Gardening With Sarah!

Hi everyone! This week is the last week of term until the holidays! I'm super excited, Anyways... today a very nice lady called Sarah (pronounced S-EA-RAH-) came to do some enviroschools with us! First Chris split us into groups, then one group at a time came up to plant some seed's. Chris also let us come up to get a bunch of seeds out of leaves. then we would put the seeds in a line, get some tape and stick it over them to that they would stay on so that we could pick them off and plant them. We had a LOT of fun, well... I did at least. When we went up with Sarah, she taught us a Karakia that we didn't know. Then we got some seeds and planted them so that we could let them grow! This is a picture of her teaching us and a picture of her,

Her,
And this is me and some other kids gardening with me,

Me,

We had so much fun doing this and are hoping to do this a lot more often! Hope you enjoyed this post!
