Maths Enlargement 2020

This week, we have been working on something called an "Enlargement," what we are doing, is making a shape, and how big 1 square was if it was Enlarged it would be four squares, and if you Enlarged four squares, There would be sixteen squares. The day I did this, I partnered with Xanthe, we both made a shape on a slide then had to share it with the other person so they could Enlarge it.

  1. Kia Ora Kaya,
My name is Kieryn and I will be working with Kaniere School to comment on your blog posts over the next two terms.
Maths enlargement looks like such a fun activity to partake in, and it is so great how you have explained what you needed to do so thoroughly!
You mentioned how when doing enlargement, one square would become four. I was a little bit confused with what you meant by this until I examined your image and saw that when the ‘H’ shape was made bigger (enlarged), the single square in the centre became four.
The image really helped me understand enlargement, so thank you for including it in your blog post!
You also mentioned how you worked with Xanthe, and where he had to enlarge your image, you had to enlarge his. Is the image you have included in this post yours or Xanthe’s?
Maths was my favourite subject throughout school, and I always thoroughly enjoyed problems like these!
    Did you enjoy this activity?
Is maths a subject you like at school?
You have done a fantastic job on this blog post! Keep up the excellent work!
    Nga mihi
